Sept 1 Google Search Update, Title Changes, Google Ads RSAs, Search Console Data Lost & More
This week, I posted the monthly Google webmaster report – catch up there on search topics you may have missed. Google may have done a search ranking algorithm update on September 1st. Google did say the page experience update is done rolling out, for the most part. The title changes in Google continue, I discussed an idea on how to control titles, that the title change does not impact rankings, that you should not simply replace your HTML titles with Google’s titles and some data from third parties on this title change. Google Ads is dropping expanded text ads for responsive search ads in June 2022. Google Ads quality score it not changing with that RSA change but you should focus on ad strength metrics, Google says. The missing Google Search Console data is lost forever for August 23rd and 24th. Google added shipping and return annotations to Google Shopping and Google Search. Google says try to limit on rich result markup per page, there is no defined order. Google has internal tools to check site quality. John Mueller said he often uses Bing to debug issues with Google. Chrome beta can display your competitors site above yours, when a customer is on your site. Google is testing expandable search snippet carousels. And a survey shows that most SEOs do not use Bing Webmaster Tools. That was this past week in search at the Search Engine Roundtable.

Elon Musk has declined to join the Twitter board of directors despite becoming the company’s largest shareholder. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal tweeted the above said news Sunday night:
“Elon’s appointment to the board was to become officially effective 4/9, but Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board,” Agrawal said in the tweet. “I believe this is for the best. We have and will always value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not. Elon is our biggest shareholder and we will remain open to his input.”

The first step is to write about topics people are searching for.
Most people like to write about topics that excite them. But these posts often have a short shelf life.
When you create content around topics that people are searching for, then you get the opposite effect: free, passive and consistent traffic that usually grows over time.
How do you do this? This video will show you how.
The second step is to assess the type of content Google wants you to create.
Google’s job is to deliver the most relevant results for any given search query. And they do a pretty good job at this.
So naturally, if you want to rank for your target topic, then you need to know the type of content Google will rank for that query.
This is called search intent. Watch the video to find out how to determine search intent from any query.
Step three is to create a data-driven outline.
Content is like a puzzle. There are a lot of different pieces and it’s tough to assemble without some kind of framework. Outlines are like the edge pieces of the puzzle. They help to form the base and all you need to do is fill in the missing pieces.
They also help make sure you’re including all critical points worth communicating on the topic.
This video will show you how to easily create a blog post outline.
Step four is to create a click-worthy headline.
A headline is important because it’s what stands between you and a visitor. Its main job is to convince people to actually click on your result. Then it’s your content’s job to keep them reading.

Step five is to write a killer intro using the AIDA formula.
The introduction is arguably the most important part of your content. Its job is to hook your reader, tell them they’re in the right place, and convince them to keep reading.
Fortunately, there’s a tried and tested formula you can use called AIDA, which you can use.

Step six is to make your content actionable and easy to digest.

Stephen Leahy, independent international environmental journalist, and author of Your Water Footprint: The Shocking Facts About How Much Water we Use to Make Everyday Products.
Stephen Leahy discusses his latest book on our water footprint and on how he’s made Community Supported Environmental Journalism work for him. After two decades writing about environmental issues in the public interest Leahy has also employed crowd sourcing as a way to finance his work. In 2014 he published his first book titled Your Water Footprint: The Shocking Facts about How Much Water we Use to Make Everyday Products.
COMMUNITY SUPPORTED ENVIRONMENTAL JOURNALISM Stephen Leahy pioneered Community Supported Environmental Journalism as a way to finance his work while ensuring important environmental issues continue to be covered. Through Leahy’s Web site, people supplement his income though donations and support him in other ways including by providing accommodations when he travels. Leahy tells Cameron that the mainstream media in Canada have essentially abandoned the environmental beat and that “Canadians are actually fairly poorly informed compared to Europeans who still have very strong environmental coverage.”
WATER FOOTPRINT In his 2014 book Your Water Footprint: The Shocking Facts about How Much Water we Use to Make Everyday Products, Leahy presents the reader with a combination of riveting facts and infographics to illustrate how much water is used to support everyday activities. Much like the Ecological Footprint, which measures consumption against how much land is required to support the resource use/ waste, a “water footprint” is the amount of fresh water used to produce the goods and services we consume, including growing, harvesting, packaging, and shipping. The concept of “virtual water” is about the water it takes to make everyday things: 5,000 litres to make a cotton t-shirt; 140 litres for one cup of coffee; 7,500 litres to produce a pound of butter. According to Leahy, the average person in North America’s water footprint is about 8,000 litres per day per person. Of that, 300 to 400 litres is the direct use—toilets, showers, cooking, washing—while the rest of it is the virtual water. This is an issue because only about 3 percent of the world’s water is drinkable and we’re using more and more of it every year. Leahy discusses how the resulting shortages are causing drought, food shortages, economic contraction, and mass migration.

How To Turn Off Ads On Your YouTube Channel and Videos – Tutorial http://www.drostdesigns.com/youtube-hijack Many YouTubers don’t like ads appearing before their YouTube videos because it annoys their viewers. But here’s the good news..I’m going to show you how to turn off the pre-roll ads that play before your videos.
Here are the steps to turn off the ads that appear on your YouTube Channel and videos…
As you can see in the video I’ve got a pre-roll ad that’s playing before my video so I need to click “Skip Ad” to view the content.
But how do you turn off those ads? Click on your profile icon Click “Creator studio” Click “Channel” Click “Advanced” Under advertisements uncheck the box that says “allow advertisements to be displayed alongside my videos”
Keep in mind that this does not apply to videos that you monetize and your videos that are claimed by a third-party.
Click “save” Now let’s check the video
You can see there is no pre-roll ads that are displayed on the video however as you can see adsense banners can still be displayed on your video.
To disable these ads view the links below.
Now your YouTube videos won’t play any pre-roll ads before the content appears. This means your viewers will have a smooth experience.
